Banjarmasin<\/strong> \u2013 The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a Cultural Exchange event as the highlight and closing of the Pre-Service Student Teacher Exchange in Southeast Asia (SEA Teacher) program. The event took place on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the Hasan Bondan Hall of FKIP ULM. It was attended by students from two universities in the Philippines: the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) and Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event served as a warm farewell and a token of appreciation for the contributions made by the international students during their one-month teaching practicum at FKIP ULM’s partner schools in Banjarmasin. Representing UIC were Arsenia P. Patnongon (BSEd Mathematics) and Sharylyn L. Cabang (BEEd), while ISAT-U was represented by Kelly Jean S. Inventor, Marrielle Kate F. Moleno, Odessa Kaye N. Nemiada, and Gleah Eloisa S. Talde.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the Cultural Exchange, the Filipino students showcased aspects of their cultural heritage, including traditional dances and brief presentations on social life, education, and cuisine in the Philippines. They also shared their teaching practicum experiences at Global Islamic Boarding School (GIBS) and SMAN Banua, where they had been placed throughout the program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event was attended by the leadership of FKIP ULM, including Dean Sunarno Basuki; Vice Dean I for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty; and Vice Dean III for Student Affairs and Alumni, Ali Rachman. Also present were MBKM Unit Head Raisa Fadilla; ICT Head Nuruddin Wiranda; MBKM Unit Secretary Febriani Putri; Field Supervisor (DPL) Novita Triana; Principal of SMAN Banua, Risa Lisdariani; several teachers from SMAN Banua, and FKIP students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his remarks, Dean Sunarno Basuki expressed his pride in the successful implementation of this year\u2019s SEA Teacher program, which he said reflects FKIP ULM\u2019s commitment to inclusivity and international collaboration. He noted that the program has fostered an exchange of ideas and cultures, enriching the perspectives of future teachers from both countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Raisa Fadilla, Head of the MBKM Unit, explained that combining the closing ceremonies for both universities was made possible by the close arrival dates of the students from ISAT-U and UIC. \u201cThis joint event highlights the spirit of collaboration and family among participants,\u201d she said. She also expressed hope that the partnership would continue to grow through future academic and exchange programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The event concluded with the presentation of souvenirs to the international students and a group photo session filled with warmth and camaraderie. The students expressed their gratitude for the hospitality, guidance, and valuable experiences they gained during their time at FKIP ULM.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this activity, FKIP ULM once again affirmed its commitment to promoting internationalization in education, strengthening regional cooperation networks across Southeast Asia, and nurturing future educators equipped to contribute in a multicultural global environment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
