Improving the Quality of Scientific Work, JPBS FKIP ULM Holds Training for Students

Banjarmasin – Saturday, April 27, 2024, the Department of Language and Arts Education (JPBS), Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) held a Scientific Writing Strategy Training activity: Thesis and Journal Articles. This activity was held in the Smart Teaching Room of FKIP ULM from 08.00-12.00 WITA. The training was opened by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Ali Rachman and attended by JPBS managers: chairman, Noor Cahaya, and secretary, Noor Eka Chandra; lecturers; and mainly, students in the JPBS FKIP ULM environment.

In his opening remarks, Ali Rachman welcomed the implementation of this training which is important in order to improve the quality of scientific work made by students in order to improve the quality of graduates. Meanwhile, JPBS Chairperson, Noor Cahaya said that this activity aims to help students who have difficulty in writing scientific papers, especially theses and journal articles. “Students’ problems usually lie in starting a writing and developing the writing. Therefore, this training activity is more directed at the writing strategy itself,” he said. According to him, the target of this activity is students of the Department of Language and Arts Education who have an interest and desire to improve their writing skills, especially those who are in the semester that will or are writing a thesis. “Thus, this activity is expected to help accelerate the study period of students who are constrained by writing the final project,” he added.

The instructor for this training was Lavinia Disa Winona Araminta, a Ph.D. candidate from Monash University, Australia. Lavinia’s expertise includes academic writing and qualitative data collection. In this training, in addition to gaining theoretical understanding, participants were also invited to practice both individually and in groups in writing scientific writing. (admin)
