Banjarmasin – Indonesia’s All-Indonesia State Faculty of Teacher Training and Education Leadership Communication Forum (Forkom) is again holding regular interim meetings for 2023. This activity is divided into three parts: seminars, meetings at the dean’s level as leaders, and conferences for vice deans. The workshop held in this activity was attended by the guest speaker Muhammad Faiz Syuaib, Director of Research, Technology and Community Service, Directorate General of Higher Education and Technology Research, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Directorate General of Higher Education, Ministry of Education and Culture). The resource person delivered material entitled Reflection and Transformation: Building Higher Education Synergy and Collaboration Towards Excellent Indonesia.

Meanwhile, at the dean-level meeting, several things became the focus of the discussion, including the Fast Track pre-service PPG, namely the PPG acceleration scheme to meet the urgent needs of teachers. “This year around 72 thousand retired teachers while only around 18 thousand people can be fulfilled. The fast track is implemented both for students with independent costs and with funding from local governments who are experiencing a shortage of teachers,” explained the Dean of FKIP ULM, Chairil Faif Pasani.

This meeting also discussed the MBKM Teaching Assistance and the dedication of lecturers to Malaysia, especially in areas where there are migrant workers from Indonesia whose education has received little attention from the local government. This activity is planned to collaborate with the Indonesian Embassy in Malaysia. In this pilot phase, universities that will carry out activities are close to Malaysia’s territory. Borneo Tarakan University, Mulawarman University, and ULM will be placed in the Sabah region. Meanwhile, Palangkaraya State University and Tanjung Pura University were established in the Kuching, Sarawak region, while universities in Sumatra and Java were placed in the Malay Peninsula.

Another thing discussed was the newly opened PPG on Forkom member campuses and adding fields of study (PS) at PPG. It is hoped that PPG, which is currently in process, will report to the director of PPG Kemdikbudristek soon. This meeting also decided on a Forkom summit meeting at Khairun University (Unkhair), Ternate, North Maluku, at the end of July 2023.

On the other hand, the Deputy Dean for Student and Alumni Affairs also conveyed several things that became the topic of discussion at the vice dean’s meeting for student and alums affairs, including collaborative research, Key Performance Indicators (IKU) for student affairs, including outstanding students, sexual violence and LGBT, as well as student exchange. “The meeting also discussed the competition plans that Forkom will hold for students, namely scientific writing competitions, learning media competitions, microteaching competitions, English debate competitions, Indonesian language debate competitions, solo singing competitions, and local wisdom vlog competitions,” explained the Deputy Dean of the Sector Students and Alumni, Dwi Atmono.
