PSP Holds National Seminar to Encourage Professional Readiness

Banjarmasin – Friday, April 26, 2024, the Performing Arts Education Study Program (PSP) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a National Seminar with the theme ‘Preparing Pedagogy Competence and Professionalism in the Performing Arts Field’. This activity was held in Hasan Bondan Hall, FKIP ULM from 08.00-12.00 WITA and was attended by lecturers and students of PSP FKIP ULM. This National Seminar presented three speakers, namely, Doctor from the State University of Jakarta, Dian Herdiati who presented material on Professional Pedagogical Competence; Doctor of Lambung Mangkurat University, Edlin Yanuar Nugraheni who delivered on Basic Education Dance; and PSP FKIP ULM lecturer, Muhammad Najamudin who delivered on the Function, Instrument, and Performance of Bamboo Music.

One of the speakers, Dian Herdiati, talked about the competencies that prospective teachers must have, including pedagogical competence, personality competence, social competence, and professional competence. Pedagogical competencies that need to be mastered include (1) understanding students, (2) designing learning, (3) implementing learning, (4) evaluating learning outcomes, and (5) developing various potentials of students. Personality competencies that must be mastered include (1) in accordance with religious, legal, social, and Indonesian national cultural norms, (2) honest, noble, and a role model for students and society, (3) steady, stable, mature, wise, and authoritative, (4) having a work ethic, high responsibility, a sense of pride in being a teacher, and self-confidence.

Meanwhile, social competencies that must be mastered include (1) having an inclusive attitude, acting objectively, and not discriminating, (2) communicating politely, (3) being able to adapt to various cultures, (4) being able to communicate orally and in writing. Professional competencies that must be mastered include (1) developing learning materials creatively, (5) developing professionalism continuously by taking reflective action, (6) utilizing technology and communication to communicate and develop themselves.
