Banjarmasin – Tuesday, April 30, 2024, the Physics Education Study Program (PS) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a Workshop (Training) on the Preparation of Semester Learning Plans (RPS) and Assessments in the Implementation of the Outcome Based Education (OBE) Curriculum. The activity was held in the FETT Meeting Room and was opened by the Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty. This training began at 10:00-12:00 WITA and was attended by educators in the Physics Education PS FKIP ULM.

The resource person for this training was Professor of the University of Education Indonesia (UPI), Ida Kaniawati. The training material was delivered online through a zoom conference. In her presentation, Ida explained that the higher education curriculum cycle includes (1) the analysis stage, (2) the design stage, (3) the development stage, (4) the implementation stage, (5) the evaluation stage, (6) the follow-up improvement stage, then back to the first stage. According to him, in the development of RPS, the principles include (1) relevance between RPS components with the lecture process and graduate profiles, (2) coherence, meaning that all RPS components become a unified whole, (3) RPS must be flexible and contextual, (4) RPS is developed to achieve learning objectives appropriately. Meanwhile, the RPS development procedure includes, (1) identifying the profile of graduates, (2) identifying the Graduate Learning Outcomes (LLOs) imposed on the course (MK), (3) identifying study materials (lecture materials), (4) formulating Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK) and sub-CPMK, (5) selecting media and learning aids, (6) determining learning assessments, (7) determining learning experiences, and (7) determining the form and method of teaching.

According to the Coordinator of Physics Education, Abdul Salam, this training is expected to be a place to learn or increase the knowledge of lecturers in Physics Education related to the preparation mechanism and important elements that must be included in the RPS text, as well as the forms of assessment used in the implementation of the outcome-based curriculum (OBE). “Moreover, in the 2024/2025 academic year, the OBE curriculum will be implemented in the Physics Education Study Program. Thus, each lecturer in Physics Education is expected to be able to independently compile RPS by really paying attention to the SLOs imposed on the courses they teach, “he said.

“It can be understood together that one SLO is generally imposed on a number of courses, especially since generally the PS in FKIP ULM has small course credits (2-3 credits per MK). The potential for overlap between course studies can occur. Therefore, this process does not end only at this workshop, it will be followed up again with workshops. The main goal is to minimize the potential for overlapping studies between courses, as well as discussions about the potential for development based on the suggestions of other lecturers, especially those who are allied,” he explained further.
