Banjarmasin – Head of the Information Communication and Technology (ICT) Unit of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Nuruddin Wiranda, on Wednesday, July 10, 2024 was asked to be one of the speakers at the Technical Working Meeting (Rakernis) of the Information Communication Technology ( ICT ) Function of the South Kalimantan Regional Police (Polda) for the 2024 budget year. On this occasion he represented the ULM ICT Academic Assistance Unit (UPA).

The event was held at the Convention Hall of Banjarmasin International Hotel. The Rakernis with the theme “Information and Communication Technology of the South Kalimantan Regional Police and Jajaran Ready to Support Conducive Kamtibmas Stability in the Democratic Process to Accelerate Inclusive and Sustainable Economic Transformation,” also presented other speakers, including the Head of Subdivision (Kasubbid) of Information Technology of South Kalimantan Regional Police, Suhartono Khamtoro, and Head of Subdivision of Communication Technology of South Kalimantan Regional Police, Bambang Albita Surya. The event was opened by the Head of ICT of Kalsel Regional Police, Kholilur Rochman.

In his presentation, Wira talked about various kinds of attacks & preventive measures to overcome them. In addition, he also discussed the “Zero Trust Security Model”, as well as industry standards such as OWASP Top 10, NIST framework, ISO 27001 & ISO 27002.

According to him, attacks on websites, especially open source CMS can be minimized if we try to develop our own plugins and themes, or at least buy the premium version. “Avoid using the free version, especially pirated because of the range of malware & backdoor insertion. For CMS that has been attacked, it is necessary to disable all access, such as plugins or themes, then plugin/theme access is opened very strictly, selectively and verified,” he explained to the participants.

Regarding being asked to be a resource person, Wira said he was enthusiastic because he was visiting a special external environment. According to him, with this activity he became more familiar with the world of the police as well as adding relationships. “I feel proud to be able to contribute to bringing ULM’s good name out even though the discussion about cyber security itself is still a sensitive theme today,” he said.
