Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) agreed on a tripartite Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Semarang State University (Unnes) and Sogang University, Korea on Wednesday, August 13. The signing of the PKS took place in the Hasan Bondan Hall starting at 8:30 a.m. WITA. The signing was carried out by the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki; the Dean of FMIPA Unnes, Edy Cahyono; and a professor from the Chemistry Department, Natural Sciences Campus, Sogang University, Won Koo Lee, represented by Edi Cahyono; as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training at the State Islamic University (UIN) Antasari, Hamdan, and the Dean of the Islamic University of Kalimantan (Uniska) Muhammad Arsyad Al Banjari, Hengki, who also participated as universities affiliated with ULM in the MoU and its implementation.
The event was also attended by the Vice Dean of Academic Affairs of FKIP ULM, Deasy Arisanty; Head of the Chemistry Education Department, Rusmansyah; Head of the Cooperation and Public Relations Management Unit (UPKH) FKIP ULM, Emma Rosana Febriyanti and her team; the cooperation management team of FMIPA Unnes, as well as lecturers from the chemistry education department. Regarding this cooperation agreement, the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki, warmly welcomed the parties involved because it is cooperation such as this that can enable educational institutions like campuses to continue to develop and provide benefits and positive impacts on society.
This signing is a follow-up to the agreement discussed between the chemistry education department of FKIP ULM and FMIPA Unnes, in which the chemistry education department agreed to be part of the implementation plan for cooperation in the fields of education, research, and community service (PkM) with FMIPA Unnes and Sogang University in the Leading University Project for International Cooperation (LUPIC) program in the context of implementing SDG 17, namely Partnership for the Goals. This program aims to strengthen STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) based learning. FKIP ULM itself is expected to participate in this program, particularly in providing venues and participants.
Following the signing of the cooperation agreement, the implementation of the collaboration took place simultaneously on August 13-14 at FKIP ULM and SMAN 1 Alalak, Barito Kuala Regency. The implementation activities included seminars titled Redesigning Chemical Synthesis Pathways for Environmental Sustainability and IoT in Chemistry Learning, with participants consisting of lecturers, teachers, and students from ULM, UIN Antasari, and Uniska. In the afternoon session, the implementation continued with the implementation of eco-print PjBL STEM Learning and Microscale Chemistry Practicum. The activities carried out in the chemistry laboratory were directed so that chemistry learning could use local wisdom materials such as plants, using a STEM approach. This practice is expected to produce products that are useful and attractive. Additionally, to optimize the Microscale Chemistry Practicum and reduce the amount of waste from the experiment, tools supporting micro-scale experiments were also introduced.
According to the Head of the Chemistry Education Department, Rusmansyah, in the implementation of this collaboration, the chemistry education department of FKIP ULM received a grant in the form of a 3-D printer and 8 STEM practicum kits, each containing 6 test tubes, Y-tubes (1 piece), dropper pipettes (10 pieces), 10 mL beakers (6 pieces), 10 mL Erlenmeyer flasks (4 pieces), glass funnels (1 piece), 5 mL dilution flasks (1 piece), watch glass (1 piece), 5 mL measuring glass (1 piece), 1 mL volumetric pipette (1 piece), test tube rack (1 piece), vial bottle (1 piece), and test tube clamp (1 piece).
