Ibaraki, Japan – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) on Monday, November 24, signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) between the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki, who was represented by Professor of Chemistry Education, Atiek Winarti, and Masami Isoda, Director of the Center for Research on International Cooperation in Educational Development (CRICED) at Tsukuba University. The scope of cooperation in this MoA includes activities such as (1) elaboration of collaborative research projects; (2) exchange of teaching staff and researchers; (3) exchange of academic information and publications; and (4) collaboration on joint academic conferences and other constructive activities in the academic field.

Atiek herself was in Japan to participate in the fourth Non-degree Overseas Training (NDOT) program organized by CRICED. This activity is a collaboration between CRICED at the University of Tsukuba, the Center for Excellence of Lesson and Learning Studies (CELLS) at the Indonesia University of Education (UPI), the Indonesia Association of Lesson Study (ALSI), and the Indonesia Association of STEM Education (PPSTEMI). This activity is a training program for educators to transform education through lesson study, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) education, data science, and artificial intelligence.

According to Atiek, further cooperation in this regard will be closely related to plans to establish a Master’s program in Natural Sciences Education (PIPA) at ULM. “Because the theme of the annual event at Tsukuba University is STEM, which is in line with the vision of the study program that will be established, which is focused on ethnoscience/ethno-STEM, there are many collaborations that can be carried out, including making NODT an optional program for doctoral students who are interested. This is still a proposal, but it has been welcomed and approved by the Dean,” she said. He also added that a number of activities, both at the doctoral, master’s, and especially bachelor’s levels in the field of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (MIPA), can be initiated after the MoA is issued. A number of cooperation plans can be followed up, including research collaboration, community service, especially related to lesson study, guest lectures, and international seminars. (Admin)
