A Thousand FKIP ULM Students Attend MBKM Teaching Assistance Briefing

Opening Remarks by Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty (doc. MBKM Unit)

Banjarmasin – The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Unit of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held an orientation and send-off event for students participating in the faculty’s mandatory Teaching Assistance program on Friday, January 17. The event was divided into two sessions: 8:30 AM to 11:30 AM WITA and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM WITA, held at the General Theatre Building of ULM. In the first session, the students who attended were from the Natural Sciences Education Study Program (PIPA) with 33 students, the Chemistry Education Study Program with 22 students, the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program with 89 students, the Sociology Education Study Program with 69 students, and the Primary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) with 299 students. Meanwhile, the afternoon session was attended by 61 students from the Biology Education PS, 48 students from the Geography Education PS, 57 students from the Social Sciences Education PS (PIPS), 56 students from the Special Education PS, 42 students from the Computer Education PS, 72 students from the Mathematics Education PS, 57 students from the Performing Arts Education PS, Early Childhood Education (PG PAUD) with 80 students, and Educational Technology with 40 students. The total number of students participating in this activity was 1,025.

This event was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty, and attended by the Head of the MBKM Unit, Raisa Fadilla, and other MBKM Unit administrators such as Rizky Febriyani Putri, Arum Murdianingsih, and Muhammad Arsyad. In her opening remarks, Deasy conveyed a number of rules and regulations and the duties of students during the Teaching Assistance program. She also conveyed a message that all students must comply with the rules at the school and participate in the Teaching Assistance activities from start to finish.

Meanwhile, Raisa Fadilla, in her speech, conveyed a number of important points related to this program, including the importance of maintaining good behavior and the good name of the alma mater when carrying out Teaching Assistance activities at schools, establishing good relationships with schools in order to produce an optimal learning process, and the importance of understanding the characteristics of schools, such as the curriculum used and the characteristics of students. Flexibility and adaptability greatly assist the teaching process. “Alhamdulillah, the Teaching Assistance socialization and orientation activities by the MBKM Unit team went well and smoothly according to schedule, attended by approximately 1025 students from 14 study programs in the even semester,” she said.

As before, Teaching Assistance was conducted in two stages, namely a two-week briefing at the PS and a 14-week practicum at the school. The entire process takes six months. During the Teaching Assistance training, students are provided with a number of materials, including the independent curriculum, curriculum policies, changes, and an understanding of the Education Unit Operational Curriculum (KOSP); lesson planning, including analyzing Learning Outcomes (CP), setting goals, and Learning Outcome Flow (ATP), as well as creating teaching modules; differentiated learning, including differentiation of content, process, product, and learning environment; assessment, including designing initial learning assessments that include cognitive and non-cognitive assessments, formative assessments and summative assessments, as well as effective assessment feedback; understanding of the Pancasila Student Profile Strengthening Project (P5), such as dimensions, elements and sub-elements, implementation of P5 and final assessment of P5; micro learning; school life etiquette, and other materials according to the characteristics of PS.

One of the participants, Aufa, a student at PS PIPA, expressed her enthusiasm for participating in this training. She believes that this activity is very useful for increasing her understanding of the implementation of the Teaching Assistance program. “I actually hope that the training time can be extended so that I can further strengthen my knowledge,” she said.

The day before, the MBKM Unit also held a coordination meeting with Field Supervisors (DPL), coordinating lecturers, mentor teachers, school coordinators, and school principals regarding the implementation of this Teaching Assistance program via Zoom conference. (admin)
