Banjarmasin – Prospective teacher students from the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) gathered in groups based on their respective fields of study on Saturday, May 24, starting at 8:00 a.m. WITA to hold a Leadership Project Event. The event was opened by the PPG Program Coordinator, Hidayah Ansori, and attended by field coordinators, supervising lecturers, and prospective teacher students of the PPG Program batch II of 2024. According to Hidayah, this activity is an outcome of the Leadership Project course that students have taken over the past semester. “The purpose of the Leadership Project course is to develop students’ leadership skills and competencies,” she said.
Prospective teachers participating in this program come from a number of fields of study, including Indonesian Language, Chemistry, Informatics, Social Sciences (IPS) History, Natural Sciences (IPA), English, Guidance and Counseling, Mathematics, Primary School Teacher Education (PGSD), PG PAUD (Early Childhood Education Teacher Education), Special Education (PLB), Physical Education and Health (Penjaskes), History, and Economics. This activity was held in 3 sessions, namely session 1 at the Hasan Bondan Hall and Tumpang Lima Field, FKIP ULM (24/05), session 2 at the PGSD Banjarmasin campus (26/05) with participants being prospective teachers from the fields of PGSD and PG PAUD, and session 3 at the PKh Banjarbaru campus with participants from the fields of PLB and Penjaskes.
In this activity, student groups presented various learning innovation outputs, including learning practice products and learning media, both digital and three-dimensional spaces. According to one of the lecturers supervising the Indonesian Language Leadership Project course, Ahsani Taqwiem, the Leadership Project Exhibition organized by students has generally shown positive and impressive results because each group consisting of PPG students has demonstrated many aspects such as good leadership and managerial skills in designing and executing a project. “Despite various limitations and obstacles, they were able to identify problems and come up with creative yet solution-oriented innovations. As one of the supervisors, I am confident that with continuous improvement, projects like this can prepare prospective professional teachers who have good leadership skills and can make a significant contribution to society,” he said appreciatively.
