Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) welcomed 1,646 new students from Monday, August 11 to Saturday, August 16, who will study in 21 departments within FKIP ULM. These new students participated in a 6-day orientation program titled Introduction to Campus Life for New Students (PKKMB). The activities were held at several locations, including the ULM Banjarbaru Auditorium, the General Building Lecture Theatre ULM Banjarmasin, the ULM Multipurpose Building (GSG), and the FKIP ULM Banjarmasin/Banjarbaru campus, consisted of three introductory sessions: days 1-3 focused on university-level campus life, day 4 focused on faculty-level campus life, and days 5-6 focused on department-level campus life. The activities took place from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM WITA.

On the first day, PKKMB was opened by the Rector of ULM, Ahmad, while the faculty introduction session was opened by the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki. During the faculty introduction session, new students were introduced to the structure and positions at FKIP ULM, such as the faculty leadership consisting of the dean, vice dean, and department heads, as well as the 21 department chairs and 1 coordinator of the Teacher Professional Education (PPG) study program, unit chairs, and service division chairs. Students also received an introduction to the academic system and procedures, student organizations and student activities, as well as campus life rules and norms.

In his opening remarks, Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki, expressed his appreciation and pride that 1,646 students had entrusted their approximately four-year studies to FKIP ULM. He also hoped that students would enjoy campus life and graduate on time. Meanwhile, regarding the success of the committee in organizing the PKKMB and managing 1,646 new students in a fairly long event, the person in charge of the activity, Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Ali Rachman, expressed his gratitude. “Alhamdulillah, thanks to the solid teamwork of all components of the activity, the FKIP ULM PKKMB ran smoothly,” he said.

One of the new students, Aulia Rahmah, majoring in Primary School Teacher Education (JPGSD), said that the PKKMB activities provided a very useful experience, especially in introducing campus life, the lecture system, student activity units, and others. “When participating in the PKKMB, I felt happy and enthusiastic even though I was a little tired because of the busy schedule,” she said.
