Banjarmasin — The Student Creativity Program (PKM) team from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again achieved a proud accomplishment at the 2025 National Student Creativity Seminar at Palangkaraya State University (UPR). The event took place at the PPIIG UPR Building on Thursday, September 4. They received the Best Display Design Award I for their innovative work that integrated chemistry and local wisdom. This achievement was made by the PKM-RSH team led by Eirene Kardiani Zalukhu from Chemistry Education. This team represents an extraordinary interdisciplinary collaboration, with members Dorkas Inca Nazara from the Physics Education Department and Dhea Agustina from the Educational Technology Department. Other members from the Chemistry Education Department are Ahmad Khairani and Aliman. They were all supervised by Advisor Yogo Dwi Prasetyo.
This team presented a comic book. The presentation, titled “Digital Comics Based on Integrated Tetrahedral Representation of Ethnochemical Fabric Dyeing in South Kalimantan on Solution Materials,” successfully impressed the judges. The comic combines complex chemical concepts, such as molecular structure, with sasirangan fabric dyeing techniques. This innovative work was born thanks to excellent cross-departmental collaboration. The team succeeded in bringing a deep understanding of visual representation and physical structures that are crucial for making the tetrahedral concept easier to understand. Meanwhile, cross-disciplinary collaboration played an important role in designing comics as an effective educational medium, ensuring that the design was attractive and relevant for learning.
During the presentation session, Eirene and Aliman enthusiastically presented their ideas and comic prototypes. “This award is clear evidence of the extraordinary synergy between us. Each team member brings their own unique expertise,” said Eirene. She hopes that this digital comic can become an alternative teaching material that not only enriches chemistry knowledge but also fosters a love for local cultural heritage. With this achievement, the team is committed to perfecting the comic and conducting trials in schools, inviting teachers to collaborate. In the future, this innovation is expected to inspire the younger generation to continue creating, combining science with cultural wealth.
Congratulations to the winners. May you continue to achieve great things and inspire others.
