Banjarmasin – In order to strengthen the commitment of employees, especially department managers and educational staff (tendik), the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) once again held an outbound activity. This outdoor activity, aimed at developing skills, teamwork, and leadership, was held in Loksado, Hulu Sungai Selatan (HSS) District, from November 28-30. The event was attended by FKIP ULM leadership, including Dean Sunarno Basuki; Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty; Deputy Dean for Finance and General Affairs, Dharmono; and Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Ali Rachman; unit heads, department administrators (heads, secretaries, and financial administrators), and all tendik within FKIP ULM, with a total of 144 people.

The series of activities entitled “Strengthening Integrity and Appreciation of Outstanding Lecturers and Teaching Staff” included presentations and announcements of the winners of the outstanding academic community selection in the lecturer and teaching staff categories; a presentation by the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki, entitled “Harmony and Rhythm of Work”; a teamwork agility and creativity competition guided by the ABKIN (Indonesian Guidance and Counseling Association) team; as well as river tubing and bamboo rafting activities.

In his presentation on Friday evening, November 28, Sunarno Basuki reminded the audience of the importance of personal commitment to hard work so that the results can be enjoyed in the future. According to him, everyone will reap the rewards of their efforts, including at work. He also hopes that employees at FKIP ULM will have a strong sense of responsibility to complete their work instead of complaining or letting others do their work. He also hopes that employees can maintain and improve their quality performance.

During the competition, participants were divided into several teams and asked to present their team names and chants. Afterwards, a number of local-themed names and chants emerged, such as Kaladi Tunggal, Rimpi Basanga, and Bigi Ramania. The teams also competed in a number of agility competitions, such as carrying glasses using inflated balloons, carrying pencils in groups by holding the ends of the pencils, or carrying tennis balls in groups using balloon sticks. The lessons to be learned from these games certainly lie in teamwork and solidarity as the keys to victory, including the ability of team leaders to divide and distribute responsibilities.

Teamwork Game Atmosphere

This solidarity was also evident in the group river tubing activity, where each person occupied one large tire and each tire was tied together to form a chain of tires that would be released to follow the current from top to bottom. Due to the strong current, some of the ties broke, but good teamwork allowed each person to keep their companions around them in the same chain.

According to the Chair of the Organizing Committee, Dharmono, this activity was intended not only to hone commitment to work and teamwork skills, but also to strengthen ties among employees. As the vice dean who is also in charge of personnel, he hoped that all elements could work harmoniously and in sync for FKIP ULM.

In line with this, one of the participants, Akhmad Ramadhani, who is a staff member in the field of personnel, said that this activity could foster closer ties between leaders, lecturers, and staff members. “With events like this, we can become closer, get to know each other, and even make new friends,” he said. Similarly, Risma Liyanti, a staff member from the Cooperation and Public Relations Management Unit (UPKH), shared that after participating in this mancakrida activity, she felt many positive benefits, ranging from new knowledge, new experiences, and the joy of gathering together. “I feel like I am part of the FKIP ULM family,” she said.

Meanwhile, Karunia Puji Hastuti, head of the Geography Education Department, who was also one of the participants in this activity, expressed her appreciation for the implementation of this mancakrida. “This activity provided a very memorable and meaningful experience for all lecturers and educational staff at FKIP ULM. The natural atmosphere of Loksado, combined with activities that encourage cooperation, communication, and reflection, has succeeded in strengthening togetherness and fostering a stronger spirit of collaboration. Through this series of activities, the values of integrity are better understood and internalized in the context of professional duties, thereby encouraging improvements in the quality of academic and administrative services. In addition to providing mental refreshment, this activity also fostered a sense of belonging to the institution and motivation to continue performing better. I sincerely appreciate all lecturers, staff, and committee members who participated and contributed, so that this activity not only ran smoothly but also left a deep positive impression on all of us,” he said enthusiastically.
