Banjar Regency – The Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Study Program (PS) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a Field Experience Practice (PPL) PPG activity for prospective teachers in the second semester at the beginning of 2025 on Tuesday, January 21. The event took place at the Sky Convention Center in Banjar Regency starting at 8:00 AM WITA and was opened by the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki. The event was attended by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty; PPG Program Coordinator, Hidayah Ansori; Head of General Affairs, Isnawati; sub-coordinators within FKIP ULM; study program coordinators in the PPG program, lecturers teaching in the PPG program; PPL PPG supervising teachers; and PPG program administrators from FKIP ULM.
In his opening remarks, Sunarno Basuki explained that PS PPG is actually under ULM, and FKIP acts as the manager in its role as LPTK (Educational Personnel Training Institution). He also reemphasized the importance of evaluation and improvement in the implementation of PPG so that FKIP ULM as LPTK remains trusted in the management of PPG. Meanwhile, Hidayah Ansori said that the PPL preparation was carried out to refresh lecturers and mentor teachers who had previously accompanied students, and to provide new information for study fields that had not yet implemented the PPG for Prospective Teachers.
“Among the materials provided was an introduction to the stages of PPL implementation, which was delivered through a presentation by representatives of the Field Supervisors (DPL) and mentor teachers who had received PPL implementation training held nationally in Bali,” explained Hidayah. The materials provided in this meeting related to PPL were Reflections on Mentor Love by Hidayah Ansori, Meaningful Understanding by Mutiani, Mentoring Skills and Smart Goals by Meta Ariani, Yuliani Astina, and Rusdiana.
In the presentation of material by the speakers, it was revealed that lecturers and supervising teachers, as mentors, have a number of roles, including as role models, resource persons, challengers, advisors, discovery partners, problem solvers, supporters, learning partners, and of course as assessors. As an evaluation, according to Hidayah, the implementation of PPL 1 PPG last semester was carried out according to procedure, but some students felt that communication was not optimal. “We, the managers of PS PPG ULM, hope that supervising teachers will participate maximally in reflection activities in each learning practice and facilitate communication of differences of opinion. Field Supervisors (DPL) are also expected to play a role in the reflection process by visiting schools and observing student learning. DPLs are expected to visit schools four times,” she explained.
