Banjarmasin – The History Education Department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) collaborated with the Ministry of Culture (Kembud) of the Republic of Indonesia (RI) to hold a Public Discussion on the Draft Writing of Indonesian History Books on Monday, July 28. The discussion, held at the General Building Lecture Theater of ULM, served as a platform for stakeholders to exchange ideas and opinions on the process of rewriting Indonesian history. The event was officially opened by the Director of History and Museums, Agus Mulyana, and attended by the Deputy Dean of Finance and General Affairs, Dharmono; FKIP ULM professors involved as editors; representatives of the Banjarmasin City Culture Office; and ULM students. In this forum, three general editors and ten volume editors presented the initial draft of the history book that is currently being compiled.

In his speech, Agus Mulyana explained that the purpose of writing this history book is to update Indonesia’s national historical records. “The last Indonesian National History book was compiled in the 1980s and stopped at the beginning of the reform and the administration of President B.J. Habibie. Through this project, we want to complete and update the nation’s historical records,” he said. This public discussion is part of a series of activities that have previously been held at the University of Indonesia. Similar activities will also be held at Padang State University and Semarang State University.

Deputy Dean of Finance and General Affairs, Dharmono, expressed his appreciation for the plan to write this book in his speech. “The effort to write this history book is very positive because it will provide the latest information to the public. Hopefully, through this book, a common perception of Indonesia’s historical journey will emerge,” he said. (Admin)
