In accordance with the notification letter of the results of the accreditation of scientific journals for the first period of 2025 issued by the Directorate of Research and Community Service of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek), 242 scientific journals within the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Technology received a tiered ranking of Sinta accreditation ranging from Sinta 1 to Sinta 6. Among these scientific journals, there are a number of scientific journals published by Study Programs (PS) or departments within the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM). These journals received accreditation ratings with the status of increasing rank, decreasing rank, permanent, and new entry in the Sinta ranking.
The journal in question, namely the Journal of Geography Education (JPG) managed by the Geography Education Study Program, was previously in Sinta 4 and rose to Sinta 3 until 2026. Meanwhile, Edu-Mat, the Journal of Mathematics Education managed by the Mathematics Education Study Program managed to maintain its ranking at Sinta 3 until 2028. Similarly, the Journal of Physics Education Scientific Periodicals managed to maintain its accreditation status at Sinta 3 until 2027. The scientific journals that have successfully entered the Sinta accreditation scheme include the Journal of Social Science Education Periodical Publications accredited by Sinta 4 until 2027; Journal of Student Final Assignments (JTAM) Sociology Education and Prabayaksa Journal, Journal of Histroy Education accredited by Sinta 5 until 2027.
According to several journal managers who were successfully contacted by the FKIP ULM Public Relations team, the key to success in achieving a good ranking in scientific journal accreditation lies in consistency in maintaining the scientific quality of articles. “When the article enters, it is first reviewed by the editor, if it is feasible, it can go to the next stage with revisions, if it is not feasible, it is rejected, as well as the next process,” said one of the editors of Edu-Mat Journal, Taufiq Hidayanto. On the other hand, according to the Chief Editor of JPG, Aswin Nur Saputra, one of the advantages of the management of the Geography education journal, which at the beginning of the Sinta accreditation scheme was already in the Sinta 4 position, is the application of double blind review where authors and bestary partners are both anonymized to maintain objectivity.
