Aceh – Two students from the English Education Department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), Alya Syawalita Putri and Nurhaliza Ramadhaniah, won third place in the English Debate Competition on the Content of the Qur’an as part of the International Quran Recitation Award held at Syiah Kuala University, Aceh, on September 13–15.

This debate competition was attended by various domestic and foreign universities, including a number of universities from Brunei Darussalam. Participants were challenged to debate in English by linking current issues in society with arguments from the Qur’an and hadith, either as a pro or con team. According to coach Noor Ainah, intensive preparations were made over a period of ten days. “We practiced every day, usually in the afternoon or evening after they returned from their teaching assistantships. I trained them on the debate material, while their seniors helped them with the language. Alhamdulillah, our hard work paid off,” she explained.

Noor Ainah also expressed her pride. “Alhamdulillah, I am happy, proud, and moved because our efforts have not been in vain. Our students competed not only with renowned domestic universities, but also with those from abroad. When we competed in three rounds in Aceh and made it to the top four, we were already very grateful. And finally, in the final round against teams from Syahkuala University, Muhammadiyah University Surakarta, and Padang State University, our students won third place. All of this is thanks to our prayers and maximum effort. Allah SWT has answered our prayers,” she said.

Congratulations to the winners. May you continue to achieve great things and inspire others. (Admin)
