BK FKIP ULM Holds an International Seminar Focusing on Counseling for Riverbank Youth

The Gong-Beating Ceremony at the Opening of the JBK FKIP ULM International Seminar, Led by Professor Ahmad Suriansyah of the Department of Elementary School Teacher Education and Early Childhood Education

Banjarmasin — The Guidance and Counseling Department (JBK) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), held an international seminar on Thursday, December 11, entitled “Humanistic Literacy in Wetland Education: Guidance and Counseling Services Based on the Fun School Movement for Riverbank Youth.” The seminar took place at the ULM General Building Lecturer Theater starting at 8:00 a.m. WITA. This international seminar was part of the Behavioral Problems of Children in Riverbanks course for JBK students of the Class of 2024. The event was officially opened by the Deputy Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni of FKIP ULM, Ali Rachman, and was attended both offline and online by lecturers and students of JBK FKIP ULM. In his opening remarks, Ali Rachman expressed his appreciation to the organizing committee. He stated that the seminar could serve as an initial step toward organizing even larger academic events in the future.

Speakers at the international seminar included Ahmad Suriansyah, Professor of Elementary School Teacher Education (JPGSD) and Early Childhood Education Teacher Education (JPG-PAUD), who delivered a presentation entitled “Developing Literacy with a Humanistic Approach”; Darlyn Joy E. Tesoro, RGC., Director of Counseling Services at the University of Immaculate Conception (UIC), Philippines, who participated online via Zoom and presented “Adversity, Behavior, and Resilience: Guidance and Counseling Interventions for Children in Riverbank Communities”; and Ali Sodikin, Facilitator of the Fun School Movement, who presented “Social-Emotional Learning: Humanistic Literacy in Wetland Education.”

According to the Head of JBK FKIP ULM, Nina Permatasari, this international seminar was not only an outcome of the course but also part of the implementation of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) curriculum. She explained that the theme, “Guidance and Counseling Services Based on the Fun School Movement for Riverbank Youth,” is highly relevant for developing a more inclusive and adaptive guidance and counseling service model.
