Students from the Department of Science Education (JPIPA) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM)—Alya Nurul Latifah and Annisa Maulida Shaleha, accompanied by their Field Supervisor (DPL), Yasmine Khairunnisa, successfully won 3rd place and received a Bronze Medal in the food category at The 2nd International Student Summit 2026 held at the Alamis City Hotel Ballroom, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The event, held on Saturday-Sunday, February 14-15, was organized by the International Students Associations of USIM (Insan USIM) at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia and the World Associations of Young Scientists (WAYS), in collaboration with the Sentosa Foundation. The 2nd International Student Summititself is a periodic international scientific competition aimed at serving as a global platform for students to discuss innovations and solutions in various fields such as health, technology, and education. Participants in the event came from various countries, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Kenya, Nigeria, and Somalia.

The event, themed “Building a Sustainable and Inclusive Future,” was opened by the Director of USIM ‘Alamiyyah, Sofia Hayati Yusoff, and attended by a number of guests, including the Director of USIM ‘Alamiyyah, the Director of Universiti Putra Malaysia, the competition judges, and participants from various countries. USIM Alamiyyah organized this event in response to the need to address rapid global changes and technological advancements that have a significant impact on various sectors. The event aims to promote a sustainable and inclusive socio-economic system. In her opening remarks, Sofia commended the students for their courage in competing and expressed her hope that they would enjoy the event and gain the maximum benefit from it. She also urged the students to continue innovating, exchanging ideas, exploring solutions, and building meaningful international networks for the future through their participation in this event.
Alya and Annisa were crowned champions alongside other winners in the food category: the master’s student team from the Food Technology program at Gadjah Mada University, who won the gold medal, and the undergraduate student teams from Riau University and Warmadewa University, who won the silver medals. Regarding this victory, Alya and Annisa expressed their gratitude. “We are very proud and grateful to have participated in this international competition and to have had the opportunity to bring honor to our faculty on the international stage. This experience has been a very valuable learning opportunity for us. We hope that our participation can inspire our friends to continue to dare to try, gain experience, and expand their networks to various countries,” they said.
