Yogyakarta – A student from the Department of Science Education (JPIPA) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) has once again achieved a proud accomplishment. A JPIPA FKIP ULM student named Dodi Rizal Pradana successfully placed third and won a bronze medal at the Forum Indonesia Muda 2 event organized by Capai Cita in collaboration with Janabadra University. The event, held on February 14–15, took place at Janabadra University in Yogyakarta and was attended by students from various universities across Indonesia. This achievement is a source of pride and serves as proof of the contribution of FKIP ULM students in developing innovative ideas based on local potential and sustainable development.

The Indonesia Muda 2 Forum was organized with the aim of inspiring the younger generation to develop innovation and creativity based on the knowledge they have acquired during their studies. Through this event, students are given the opportunity to express their ideas in the form of innovative and solution-oriented academic papers. This event is part of an effort to encourage students to play an active role in supporting sustainable development through scientific and creative approaches. Capai Cita Indonesia, as the organizer, presents the Indonesia Muda Forum as an essay competition focused on developing the quality and quantity of human resources in Indonesia. This competition provides a space for students to develop critical and innovative thinking skills. Additionally, this event offers valuable academic experience through the process of direct presentation and evaluation by a panel of judges from the academic community.

In the competition, Dodi won a bronze medal for his project titled “PATIN+: An Innovation in Catfish Basreng Based on the Abundance of Resources in South Kalimantan.” This project, supervised by Field Supervisor (DPL) Wida Salupi, highlights the potential of patin fish as one of South Kalimantan’s flagship commodities, which is abundantly available every year; however, its utilization has so far been dominated by fresh consumption. This has resulted in its economic value-added potential remaining suboptimal. Through this innovation, patin fish is processed into food products such as basreng (fried meatballs) and fish meatballs, which offer higher added value and broader market potential. This innovation aims to optimize the utilization of local resources while supporting the provision of nutritious food for the community. Additionally, this initiative holds potential for empowering SMEs and sustainably enhancing the economic value of local fisheries commodities.

Achievements and Valuable Experience at the National Level

Along with Dodi, students from the University of 17 Agustus 1945 were named first-place winners, and students from Dyana Pura University were named second-place winners. Dodi’s success in winning a bronze medal demonstrates that students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education at ULM are capable of competing at the national level with other universities. This achievement serves as proof that innovation based on local potential can be a strength in national-level scientific competitions.

Regarding this achievement, Dodi, who is also an officer of the FKIP Mengajar Student Activity Unit (UKM), expressed his gratitude. He stated that the experience of participating in this competition provided valuable lessons and a unique sense of pride. “I am very grateful to have achieved this accomplishment, because it’s not just the achievement itself, but also the new insights and experience of standing alongside other renowned universities in Indonesia—that is something truly pride-worthy,” he said.

Congratulations to the winners! May you continue to achieve great things and serve as an inspiration to others. (Admin)
