Meanwhile, in the Zoom meeting, the following were present: Director of Institutional Affairs at the Directorate General of Higher Education, Henriette Minerva Wenno; Head of LLDIKTI Region XI, Muhammad Akbar; Rector of Lambung Mangkurat University, Ahmad; as well as two evaluators, Andi Sukri Syamsuri from Muhammadiyah University of Makassar and Muhammad Rusdi from Jambi University.

In his remarks, ULM Rector Ahmad expressed his hope that the establishment of the Doctoral Program in Science Education would proceed smoothly, be successfully implemented, and become a hallmark of ULM’s excellence. According to the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty, the Doctoral Program in Science Education is planned to be established under the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at ULM, and the faculty will primarily facilitate the provision of facilities and infrastructure. Regarding preparations, the Coordinator of the Doctoral Program in Science Education conveyed his team’s readiness. “In terms of readiness, we are fully prepared and have actually been waiting quite a while for this on-site evaluation phase. We have prepared the necessary documents, such as the vision and mission statement, curriculum documents, documents related to home-base faculty data and DTPS (Permanent Program Faculty), as well as quality assurance documents. At the beginning of the proposal for this program, we also conducted a survey of alumni and colleagues from other universities in South Kalimantan and Central Kalimantan. Alhamdulillah, the response was positive; several alumni and faculty colleagues from other universities expressed a desire to enroll as students. While waiting for the evaluation team to arrive, these prospective students have also asked for confirmation regarding the establishment of this program. This has been one of the factors motivating us to prepare thoroughly,” he explained.

According to the evaluator’s notes, as stated by one of the UPM team members, Saiyidah Mahtari, the Doctoral Program in Science Education possesses a unique academic focus on wetland-based ethnoscience in science education, which can serve as a selling point and a potential distinctive strength for ULM. The Doctoral Program in Science Education is also supported by faculty members holding doctoral degrees, four of whom have already attained the rank of professor; adequate physical facilities and infrastructure demonstrate operational readiness to run the program; good governance requirements have been met, adhering to the principles of credibility, transparency, accountability, responsibility, and fairness; fundamentally, the program is already viable and ready (in terms of administration, human resources, facilities, and governance), however, improvements are still needed in academic aspects (curriculum, CPL (Graduate Learning Outcomes), and research integration).
