Tanah Laut – The Department of Pancasila and Civic Education (JPPKn) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) conducted a Field Study (PKL) for the class of 2024 on June 6–7 in Kuala Tambangan Village, Takisung Subdistrict, Tanah Laut Regency. This activity was organized as part of the Civil Procedure Law course and is an effort to integrate theoretical learning with real-world field experience within the community. The implementation of this PKL was driven by the need to provide students with empirical experience in understanding the application of various aspects of law and community life. Through this activity, students are expected to be able to connect the concepts learned in the Civil Procedure Law course with real-world conditions occurring within the community.

The event was opened by Mariatul Kiptiah, Head of the JPPKn Program at the FKIP ULM, and was attended by officials from the village of Kuala Tambangan, faculty members, and students from the Class of 2024 of the JPPKn Program at the FKIP ULM. In her remarks, Mariatul expressed her appreciation and gratitude to the officials of Kuala Tambangan Village and the entire community for warmly welcoming the students. She emphasized that field experience is an important part of the students’ learning process, particularly in understanding the social and legal practices that evolve within the community. “We extend our deepest gratitude to the Kuala Tambangan Village Government and the entire community for welcoming the JPPKn FKIP ULM students so warmly. The students’ presence in this village is part of an important learning process to introduce them directly to the realities of community life. We hope this activity not only benefits the students but also makes a positive contribution to the local community,” she said.

The group of students and their accompanying faculty members was also welcomed directly by the Secretary of Kuala Tambangan Village, Mulyadi. On this occasion, he expressed his support for the implementation of the Field Study Program, which is considered to benefit both the students and the village community. “We warmly welcome and are delighted by the presence of JPPKn FKIP ULM students in Kuala Tambangan Village. Hopefully, during their time here, the students can gain valuable experience from the community, while also sharing their knowledge and contributing to the village environment. We are open to supporting academic activities that directly involve the community,” said Mulyadi.

During the activity, students conducted face-to-face interviews with local residents to gather information regarding social life, legal awareness, the resolution of community issues, and various social practices prevalent in Kuala Tambangan Village. These interviews served as an important learning tool for students to gain a deeper understanding of community conditions while honing their communication, observation, and field data collection skills. In addition to academic activities, students also carried out community service at places of worship as a form of dedication and care for the local community. These activities, carried out collaboratively with local residents, aim to strengthen the bond between students and the community while fostering values of togetherness, social responsibility, and a spirit of service.

In the evening, the series of activities continued with a movie screening for the village children. A warm and friendly atmosphere prevailed throughout the event. In addition to serving as a form of educational entertainment, this activity also fostered positive interaction between the students and the village’s younger generation, helping to build closer and more harmonious relationships. Through this field placement, students not only gained academic experience but also valuable lessons regarding the values of togetherness, social awareness, and the importance of active involvement in community life. It is hoped that this experience will strengthen the competencies of JPPKn students as future educators and citizens who possess social sensitivity and a commitment to contributing to community development.

The JPPKn Program at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of ULM is committed to continuing to provide various field-based learning activities as part of its efforts to produce outstanding, adaptable graduates who are capable of addressing the challenges of community life in an ever-evolving era. The field placement activity in Kuala Tambangan Village is a concrete example of implementing learning that has a positive impact on both students and the community—learning that is not only focused on mastering theory but also on hands-on experience and strengthening students’ character through interaction with the community.
