August 17 and 23, 2025

Banjarmasin – In commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia (RI), the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held two sports tournaments for employees within the FKIP ULM environment. The two sports tournaments were none other than a pickleball tournament held on Sunday, August 17, and an e-sports football tournament held on Saturday, August 23. According to one of the organizers, Adhitya, the two tournaments were part of the faculty’s annual program to celebrate Indonesia’s Independence Day.
According to the chairman of the pickleball tournament committee, Rusmansyah, in addition to commemorating Indonesia’s Independence Day, this activity was also held to foster friendship among employees and to popularize pickleball among the public. “Pickleball is now included as a sport in various competitions. These include national championships such as the ONG Open, the National Student Sports Week (POMNAS), and the National Student Sports Week (POPNAS) in October 2025. Along with this tournament, a U-21 category will also be held, which is expected to spark interest among young people to take up pickleball,” he explained.
The pickleball tournament was attended by 38 participants or 19 teams. The winners of this pickleball tournament were Ramadhan Arifin and Hardyan Candra as the 1st place winners, Akhmad Ramadhani and Sabhan as the 2nd place winners, Indra Nur Adhitya and Muhammad Irham as the 3rd place winners, and Lazuardy Akbar Fauzan and Rasyid Humaidi as the 4th place winners.
On the other hand, regarding the e-football tournament, Muhammad Budi Zakia Sani said that the idea for this event originated from the growing interest of lecturers and educational staff in e-sports. “The nostalgia of playing PlayStation in the past also sparked enthusiasm for competing in e-football. The support of the leadership also made this activity possible,” he said.
This e-football tournament was attended by 28 participants. The winners of this tournament were Muhammad Aji Pratama as 1st place, Rahman Nul Hakim as 2nd place, Agus Suryani as 3rd place, and Novyandi Saputra as 4th place.
Regarding this activity, the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki, welcomed it and gave his full support to the organizing process. He hoped that this tournament would strengthen the emotional bonds between citizens and provide great benefits for the personal development of the participants.
