Lecturers from the Sociology Education Department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a Community Service (PkM) activity in Loklahung Village, Loksado District, Hulu Sungai Selatan Regency on Tuesday (16/09). The activity, which took place at SDN Loklahung, consisted of showing a film about the impact of excessive gadget use to around 60 students from grades 1 to 6.

Before the community service event began, Rochgiyanti, the head of the department, and Lumban Arofah, the head of community service, along with a number of lecturers and students, held a friendly gathering with the school. The gathering lasted about 30 minutes, during which they introduced the teachers of SDN Loklahung. This was followed by an introduction of the community service lecturer team.

Alfisyah, a lecturer in the Sociology Education Department, filled the community service activity with a question and answer session with students about national heroes. Next, a children’s film about the impact of mobile games was screened. The 12-minute film attracted the students’ attention because it featured more animation. An explanation of the film’s content was given after the screening to emphasize that digital games can cause laziness. Traditional games are better at stimulating creativity. This community service activity for elementary school children was enthusiastically received by the students both during and after the activity.
