Banjarmasin – The Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka (MBKM) Unit of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a farewell event on Friday, October 10, for students who will participate in the SEA (South East Asia) Teacher international student exchange program in 2025. The event took place in the Utility Building Meeting Room starting at 9:00 AM WITA. The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty, and attended by the Head of the MBKM Unit, Raisa Fadilla, and her team; the Head of the Cooperation and Public Relations Management Unit (UPKH) and her team; the Secretary of the Quality Assurance Unit (UPM), Saiyidah Mahtari; and representatives of the departments whose students are participating in this program: Head of the English Education Department, Moh. Also present were nine students who will participate in SEA Teacher: Muning from the English Education Department; Raihana Zakira from JPBSI; Muhammad Ade Wardheni from the Economics Education Department; Muhammad Barto Maulana Irsyad Baso from the Sociology Education Department; Indri Naila Soraya from the Performing Arts Education Department; Elia Emanuela from JPIPS; Ahmad Faishal from JPPKn; Kiki Amelia Putri from the Department of Geography Education; and Rudy Mahmudi from the Department of History Education.
In her opening remarks, Deasy conveyed the importance of international student exchange programs, particularly in terms of international accreditation and institutional quality assessment. According to her, there are a number of countries in Southeast Asia that have offered to host the SEA Teacher student exchange program, but her organization has chosen countries that are relatively safe and conducive to visit. She also reminded students about the potential for culture shock upon arrival in the destination country and hoped that they would be able to adapt well. “Maintain your good name, your campus, and your country while you are in another country,” she advised.
These students will stay for a month at two campuses in the Philippines, namely Iloilo Science and Technology University, in Iloilo City, and the University of Immaculate Conception (UIC), in Davao City. According to Raisa Fadilla, the students will depart on Monday, October 13. “We are also preparing for the arrival of five Filipino students, three from Mariana Marcus State University and two from UIC. Students from Iloilo will arrive next semester,” she explained.
May this activity run smoothly and provide many benefits. (Admin)
