Banjarbaru – The Department of Physical Education (J-Penjas) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a General Lecture on Thursday, April 30, starting at 11:00 a.m. WITA, at the Banjarbaru Department of Physical Education Auditorium. This General Lecture, titled “Outdoor Education in Improving Students’ Health and Physical Fitness,” featured a keynote speaker, Professor Mohd. Taib Harun from INTI International University and Colleges, Malaysia.
The event was officially opened by the Dean of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at ULM, Sunarno Basuki, and was attended by the Chair of the Physical Education Study Program (J-Penjas) at FKIP ULM, Rahmadi; the Secretary of the Physical Education Study Program (J-Penjas) at FKIP ULM, Arie Rahman; as well as faculty members and students from the Physical Education Study Program (J-Penjas) at FKIP ULM. On this occasion, Rahmadi, who is also the coordinator of the event, stated that this event is expected to serve as a platform to strengthen students’ understanding and awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle through planned and sustainable physical activity.
This public lecture aims to enhance students’ knowledge of maintaining and improving physical fitness and health through outdoor activities. Additionally, this activity supports the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4 (Quality Education) and Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
The series of public lectures featured presentations focusing on the importance of physical fitness and health, as well as the incorporation of outdoor activities as a strategy for promoting a better quality of life. In addition, during this event, a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and Implementation Agreement (IA) were signed between the two parties. With the holding of this event, it is hoped that Physical Education students at FKIP ULM can apply the knowledge gained in their daily lives and contribute to supporting the achievement of sustainable development goals.
