Banjarmasin – The Department of Computer Education (JPilkom) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a non-classroom academic event titled “Getting to Know AI.” The event took place in the Fuad Hasan Room at FKIP ULM starting at 9:00 a.m. WITA and was an integral part of the Smart Systems course. The event was opened by the course instructor, Novan Alkaf Bahraini Saputra, and was attended by other JPilkom lecturers as well as students enrolled in the course. According to Novan, the presence of international instructors like this is necessary to improve the quality of learning to an international standard and to foster a global learning environment.
This event is a follow-up to the partnership with the international non-governmental organization (NGO) Pueblo Science in the field of education. The objectives of this event include improving the quality of lectures by inviting international experts and providing global insights on topics ranging from the fundamentals of AI (Artificial Intelligence) to current AI trends. The speakers from Pueblo Science were Mayrose Salvador, Martin Labrecque, Jacqueline Brillantes, and Matthew Jabbile, who were present to deliver lectures on AI. The sessions covered topics ranging from basic AI algorithms and large language models to current developments in AI and the use of AI to support prospective teachers in developing learning materials.
