Banjarmasin – The Department of Guidance and Counseling (JBK) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a guest lecture on Friday, June 8, starting at 2:00 p.m. WITA. The event was held in the Hasan Bondan Auditorium and opened by the Dean of FKIP ULM, Sunarno Basuki. The guest lecture was attended by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni, Ali Rachman; the Head of the Academic Support Unit (UPA) for Guidance and Counseling (BK) at ULM, Ririanti Rachmayanie; the Head of the Cooperation and Public Relations Management Unit (UPKH), Emma Rosana Febriyanti; Secretary of the Cooperation Division at UPKH, Nahdia Fitri Rahmaniah; Head of the Guidance and Counseling (JBK) Program, Nina Permata Sari; Secretary of the JBK Program, Eklys Cheseda Makaria; as well as faculty members and students from the JBK Program at FKIP ULM. In his remarks, Sunarno Basuki conveyed a message that students must become accustomed to technological advancements and utilize them in their learning. According to him, many things that were once considered impossible have become possible with the advancement of technology.
This public lecture is an annual event organized by students from the JBK Department of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at ULM. This year’s theme is the use of information technology in guidance and counseling education. In collaboration with the Banjarmasin City Education Office, this event is expected to broaden students’ knowledge regarding the application of technology. The speakers were the Head of the Banjarmasin City Education Office, Ryan Utama, and the Head of the Elementary School Development Division of the Banjarmasin City Education Office, Faisal Rahman. Prior to the guest lecture, a signing ceremony for the IA (Implementation of Arrangement) document was held between JBK FKIP ULM and the Banjarmasin City Education Office.
In his lecture, Ryan Utama discussed a number of challenges related to the digitalization of learning, including the technology access gap, digital literacy among teachers and students, distractions and misuse of technology, the quality and validity of information, changes in teaching methods, as well as data security and digital ethics. Regarding this, he noted that higher education institutions, particularly the Department of Guidance and Counseling, play a strategic role in preparing high-quality guidance and counseling teachers, conducting educational research and innovation, engaging in community service in the field of education, and serving as regional partners in the development of digital-based education. “For Banjarmasin, the data on digital device procurement includes 2,010 laptops for students and teachers, 700 Chromebooks, 561 desktop computers, and 112 smartboards,” he said. He hopes that, although the quantity is still limited, these resources can be utilized to the fullest. (Admin)
