Banjarmasin – The Cooperation and Public Relations Management Unit (UPKH) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) at Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) held a public speaking training workshop on Wednesday, June 6, for faculty members, specifically department heads and educational staff (tendik), particularly division heads. The event was held in the Faculty Meeting Room and the Utility Building Meeting Room starting at 9:00 a.m. WITA. The training instructors were public speaking instructors from the Hafecs Foundation, including Wawan Prasetyo, Ani Nuraini, and Putri Amalina Handayani. The event was opened by the Vice Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni and attended by the Head of the General Affairs Division, Isnawati; the Chair of the UPKH, Emma Rosana Febriyanti; department heads; a number of chairs, secretaries, and faculty representatives from various departments; as well as the UPKH team from the FKIP ULM.

In his opening remarks, Ali Rachman expressed his hope that the participants’ public speaking skills would improve through this training. He noted that faculty and staff, particularly those in leadership positions, frequently interact with the public—including being asked to deliver opening remarks or speeches—and therefore need to enhance their skills in this area. Following the opening session, the event continued with a presentation on the importance of public speaking, along with tips and tricks, followed by a practical session.

One of the participants representing the Department of Biology Education, Opik Prasetyo, expressed his appreciation for the event. He said that the event had gone very well and in a positive atmosphere. “Hopefully, this event can be held regularly to improve public speaking skills,” he said. (Admin)
