Banjarmasin – The Department of Physics Education (JP) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM), hosted a visit from students of Citra Madinatul Ilmi Plus High School in Banjarbaru as part of a Physics Laboratory Activity held at the JP Physics Laboratory at FKIP ULM. This activity is part of the school’s co-curricular project aimed at providing students with hands-on laboratory learning experiences.
The event was attended by 45 eleventh-grade students accompanied by the co-curricular team from SMA Plus Citra Madinatul Ilmi Banjarbaru. During the event, the students were introduced to various physics laboratory facilities and participated in demonstrations and simple experiments related to physics concepts in everyday life. 
Suyidno, Head of the Physics Department at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of ULM, stated that the open laboratory event is one way the department demonstrates its commitment to supporting real-world, hands-on learning for high school students, while also serving as a way to promote the physics education program. “Through this open laboratory event, we aim to provide a learning experience that is more closely aligned with scientific practice in the laboratory. Students not only understand physics concepts theoretically but can also see their direct application through experiments and demonstrations,” he said. He also added that activities like this are expected to foster students’ interest and motivation in the field of science, particularly physics, as well as introduce the academic environment of higher education to students at an early stage.
Through this initiative, the Department of Physics Education at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, ULM, continues to demonstrate its commitment to supporting educational collaboration with secondary schools by providing interactive and practical laboratory-based learning experiences.
