Banjarmasin – The Department of Social Sciences Education (JPIPS) at the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Lambung Mangkurat University (FKIP ULM), held a Training Session on Curriculum Design and Thematic Integrated Social Studies Lesson Plans for Students on Monday (May 11, 2026) in Lecture Hall 41 at FKIP ULM.

This event was attended by students enrolled in the Junior High School Social Studies Curriculum Studies course. The training session was opened by Ridha Ilhami, the instructor for the Junior High School Social Studies Curriculum Studies course, and featured Henny Nursitawati, a teacher at SMPN 2 Banjarbaru, as a guest speaker.

In his opening remarks, Ridha Ilhami expressed his hope that students would actively participate in the event and gain new practical insights into curriculum development and lesson plan design. This event is part of an effort to strengthen students’ understanding of curriculum design and the development of instructional materials, which will serve as essential tools for their future careers as educators.

This training session was organized to strengthen students’ understanding and broaden their knowledge of curriculum development and lesson plan design. The participation of guest speakers with hands-on experience in the field of education is expected to provide practical insights that will complement the theoretical knowledge students have gained through their coursework.

The series of activities consists of three main sessions: an introductory presentation, a presentation on technical aspects and curriculum development practice, and curriculum development practice with guidance. Through these stages, students have the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the process of developing curricula and instructional materials.

Not only did the students gain practical insights into curriculum design, but they also had the opportunity to practice developing integrated thematic lesson plans for social studies. The guidance provided during the practical session helped the students understand how to apply the concepts they had previously learned in class.

Through this training, students are expected to develop a more comprehensive understanding of curriculum design and lesson plan development, as well as to integrate theoretical knowledge with practical experience gained from guest speakers. As a result, students will be better equipped to meet the professional demands of their future careers as educators. (Admin)
