Banjarmasin – The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) of Lambung Mangkurat University (ULM) on Monday, November 3, received a visit from a team from the South Kalimantan Provincial Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kanwil Kemenkum Kalsel). The team, led by the Head of the Intellectual Property Services Division, Riswandi, was received in the Senate Meeting Room starting at 9:00 AM WITA. The delegation was received by representatives of the FKIP ULM leadership, namely the Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Deasy Arisanty. Also present to welcome the delegation were the Head of General Affairs, Isnawati; the Head of Cooperation and Public Relations, Emma Rosana Febriyanti; the Head of Finance, Indra Nur Adhitya; and the heads of departments within FKIP ULM.

In her opening remarks, Deasy conveyed the importance of intellectual property rights recognition for the academic community, including lecturers and students. According to her, such recognition will protect the work of lecturers and students and is part of the evidence of the implementation of the three pillars of higher education. The visit by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights team was carried out in order to disseminate information about the importance of intellectual property rights (IPR) and to provide detailed explanations about the process and costs of proposing IPR.

According to Riswandi, IPR certification is a form of recognition and protection for the work of lecturers and students. “Registered and certified intellectual property rights are divided into two types, namely industrial property rights, which include patents, trademarks, industrial designs, trade secrets, and integrated layout designs, and copyrights, which include all creative works, particularly works of art, literature, and other sciences,” he explained.

During the discussion and question-and-answer session, a number of department heads highlighted the proposal process and financing schemes for each type of intellectual property. (Admin)
